What progress have you made in the last month on your Genius Hour Project. There has not been much I can do but I have been trying to learn a song on guitar. Since I have not played guitar in such a long time learning the song is more difficult. What steps do you plan to take in the next 3 weeks to further your project.I plan to just practice as much as possible. Why have you decided to keep or change your Genius Hour Project from last semester?Guitar is something I still want to learn. I had a couple set backs but this time should be much better. I love music so being able to create it is an awesome feeling. How do you envision your Genius Hour to look when it is complete?I'm not sure how I envision it. It depends on how much the repair is going to cost and how long the repair will take. But if I can get it fixed soon my goal is to be able to learn a couple more songs and possibly make a video of me play the songs I learned. What did you learn from perusing the Blogs of other students participating in Genius Hour/20 Time?It teaches the interests of others. You get to so the progress of their project a long with your own, to grow and learn as a class. How can you use what you have learned to impact your own Genius Hour project/ Ted Talk?I can use some of the ideas of others or change it a little for another idea. Also seeing there interest you can learn how to relate to them more. What progress do you still need to make towards your Genius Hour Project? I haven't been able to get my guitar fixed. I can still use it to learn but it would not sound right if i actually play it.
What kinds of ideas about presentation skills did you think about as Sir Ken Robinson presented his ideas about education? How could you incorporate what you saw into your own TED talk?He used a lot of humor to keep people's attention. Through out his talk he made some jokes to make it more fun and not as serious. If he didn't do that the people listening would probably lose interest after a couple minutes. The comedy makes Ted talk more entertaining. For my TED talk I plan on adding a lot of stupid humor like random jump cuts and other things like that. While talking it's going to be pure randomness. Without it I don't feel comfortable making the video. How did Sir Ken Robinson's talk resonate with you? How might/ might not Genius Hour support Ken Robinson's ideas about how to change education?Describe the most useful resource you have found to help you develop your Genius Hour Project? So far the most helpful resource has been YouTube. It allows you to type in any song you want to learn and look up instructional videos on how to play that song. Another thing about YouTube is all the videos are free unlike if you Google guitar lessons or guitar tabs most of the time the other websites make you pay for it. Though YouTube is great it still does not have everything you are looking for. It's limited to videos that people want to make. YouTube has a huge community so its very unlikely to happen, on the contrary there may be too many of the same videos by different people so it can be challenging to find exactly what you are looking for. Be honest. How could you use your genius time more effectively? If you had an unlimited amount of time and money to make your genius project all it could be what would that look like. With unlimited money it would be a lot easier to learn because then not only would I have just a guitar and an amp but I could also get a new room with padding for the right sound acoustics. I would also get multiple guitars for different sounds and tuning and a better amp. I could also use the money for other things that i wanted to do with Genius Hour. Such as buying recording hardware and software. That way i would be able to make a video of the things I learned.
There are many things I could use the money for but for now I have to start small. But there is always the possibility that I could make a career out of playing the guitar. Then I would be able to get the different guitars and the recording studio and maybe even famous. I'm not sure how much I would care for that but like i said there is always the possibility. What excites you most about your Genius Hour Project?I took lessons for about 2 years but then stopped when my brother was born. I have not touched my guitar in about 5 years. The genius hour project helped to give me more motivation to start playing again. I have always thought about it but now the thought is becoming a reality. What concerns you most about your Genius Hour ProjectWhen it comes to playing guitar it takes many years to become good. I have two years but i forgot pretty much everything so its like I'm starting from scratch. With that being said I'm not sure how well I'm going to do. I'm also not sure if I'm going to have enough time to practice. What progress have you made so far with your project.I have not made any progress yet. There are a few things I have to do before I can use my guitar. One thing being it does not work this and amp. I plan to bring it to the shop to have them look at it to see if anything is broken. I also need to take the strings off and clean it a bit then tune it. After this is done it will be just like new.
